Electronic media pose problems of curation specific to their materiality. Just as the white-cube gallery imposes certain physical limitations & cultural associations on the work exhibited within it, so the virtual art gallery is not a perfectly 'blank page', able to relay artworks directly to an audience as if a transparent surface. One of the primary projects of NEW ART is to engage with the problematics of the virtual exhibition space & solicit dialogue with artists, curators, & critics on the formation & cultural investments of this young medium.
